Step Up Your Creativity: Unusual artistic techniques to create and enhance your images
Guest Presenters: Betsy and Jim Wilson
Join Betsy and Jim Wilson as we experiment creating unique textures by "melting" National Geographic magazines. As colorful inks dissolve, new and unusual textures are born that can then be incorporated in your photographs for a special artistic look. And you will have the opportunity to try out Scanography - using a flatbed scanner to create artfully arranged super high-resolution images. The workshop will include some basic photoshop instruction on using layers, which will enable you to blend textures with images you already have, or with images created using scanography. All participants will leave with some newly created texture pages, and a National Geographic magazine that can be used at home to create even more.

Toyography
Presented by Martin Kavanagh
As photographers it is a good bet to say we have vivid imaginations. Memories from our childhood, books we’ve read, movies we’ve seen, moments in nature, joyful moments we shared with our children or grandchildren and lots of other things in life that
have left scenes burned into our memories. We can use our cameras, some simple props, and a bit of ingenuity, to try and recreate those scenes, or even to create scenes from our own imaginative world, to share with friends and family. In the
workshop we will learn about some of the tools and props that toy photographers use and then participants can try their hand at their own tabletop creation. Martin will demonstrate a tabletop set up and show what the image looks like after processing.
Information on what will be provided at the workshop and what the participants may need to bring will be emailed to registrants prior to the workshop.

Street Photography
Presented by Vera Hershenberg
This workshop is designed to help photographers build confidence and develop their unique storytelling skills in urban environments. We will cover essential topics such as choosing the right equipment and adjusting camera settings to capture candid moments effectively. The session will explore different ways to approach subjects—focusing on techniques that allow you to take compelling images without revealing faces, preserving privacy and comfort. Emphasis will be placed on capturing fleeting moments in time that tell a story and evoke emotion. This workshop is especially suited for those who feel uneasy photographing strangers, offering practical strategies to photograph organically and ethically in public spaces while creating powerful, faceless narratives.
You'll have the opportunity to practice the skills you learn in the workshop at a special photography excursion to Philadelphia with Vera as your guide. Look for an announcement as we get closer to the date of the event. There will be separate registration for the photowalk portion of the workshop.
