October

October is the time for fall color, harvests, Halloween, Oktoberfest's and so many opportunities to photograph so many things. Our camera club is determined to help you make the most of it with lots of enriching programs this month. See below for how we’ll help you on your photography journey.

Presentations

These are still on Zoom on the second Thursday of the month. We have enlisted an international group of amazing photographers who will be talking to us about everything from photographing trees and forests to creative problem solving and more. Get the details here

Coming on Thursday, October 9th at 5PM live and 7PM recorded, Story Telling with Intentional Camera Movement (ICM) by Kaisa Siren

Please Note: Kaisa lives in Finland. For her to not start her presentation at 2am her time, we will do the live presentation at 5pm and then play the recording at 7pm. Those attending the later recorded meeting can still ask questions. We will forward them to Kaisa and she will answer them for us.

Challenges

Many of our members and judges have spoken out about the difficulty of late night travel during some months of the year. We heard you. This season, to make it a little easier for everyone, we will be holding three of our challenges on Zoom and the rest in person. We have an interesting set of topics this year as well. Get the details here

Coming on Tuesday, October 21st at 7PM: Repeating Patterns and Open, judged by Mike Pillows.

Workshops

Typically, club members lead our workshops, but this year we have recruited some talent from outside our ranks to share their knowledge and skills with us. The result is an expanded and interesting set of workshops (many of them hands-on) with topics ranging from honing your skills in Photoshop and Lightroom to creating stories by photographing toys. Because head count is key to preparing the best experience for our attendees, advanced registration is critical and required. Get the details and register here

Saturday, October 4 at 10am: Step Up Your Creativity: Unusual artistic techniques to create and enhance your images with Guest Presenters: Betsy and Jim Wilson

Field Trips

We are putting together some interesting field trips that include a Sunflower Festival and an inside look at a Pine Barrens cranberry harvest. Get the details here

Saturday, October 11: Chanticleer Gardens - 11:00AM

RiverWinds Exhibition

Our popular RiverWinds exhibition is back! Highly anticipated by members and visitors alike, our photography will be gracing the gallery walls at the RiverWinds Community Center in West Deptford from October 31- December 30. Not only do we offer cash prizes, last year’s show resulted in a record number of sales from guests eager to decorate their homes and offices or to purchase holiday gifts for appreciative recipients.

Submissions for this juried exhibition will be accepted until October 16th, so get your entries ready and submit them through the Challenge page on the SJCC website. Get the details here

Keeping Up with the South Jersey Camera Club

As you can see, there’s a lot going on during the year and it can be challenging keeping up with it all. That’s where our website comes in. You can always find the latest information and program listings there. We are also switching to a single Zoom link for all our regular online meetings. That link is:

This link is in our Member Resources section. /d/b5f0a1eb-4224-4287-a35b-df712a429301

If you haven’t taken the time to explore the website, please take a few moments to do so. There's a wealth of information there on all the opportunities that await you as a club member. We look forward to sharing them with you.

Thanks for being a part of this amazing club. Our volunteers are always working to make this club the best it can be!

Who We Are

Founded in 1976, the South Jersey Camera Club (SJCC) was organized to promote the art and science of photography. Among its goals is the desire to unite others in sharing similar interests, to exchange ideas and photographic expertise, and to enhance the skills of club members. Our members come from all across the tri-state area, especially southern New Jersey & Philadelphia.

Dedicated To Better Photography

Outstanding speakers present interesting and informative programs. Field trips and workshops provide practical photographic experience. Themed and open challenges and bonus contests throughout the season encourage members to explore new techniques and subjects.

Multiple events/meetings are held throughout each month during our club season of September through June. Our in person Challenge meetings are held at the Medford Leas Community Center Auditorium, One Medford Leas Way, Medford, NJ 08055.

Programs are planned to interest photographers from beginners to skilled artisans. Guests and prospective members are always welcome.

The South Jersey Camera Club is a registered 501(c)(3) tax-exempt, not for profit organization. Donations or endowments are tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law.
