GUIDELINES FOR CHALLENGE IMAGE SUBMISSIONS
(updated 10/26/24)

Online Submission

All SJCC monthly Challenges are submitted digitally via the website link:   Submit Challenge Images
You do not have to be present at the challenge meeting to participate. All results are posted on our website shortly after the meeting.

Special events and/or print competitions may also require digital submissions.

Preparing Projected Images

All images are to be submitted via the website link:   Submit Challenge Images

Submitted digital images are projected onto the large auditorium screen at the in-person meeting and judged based upon this projection – not their appearance on a computer's display.  The judge and audience are viewing the same image at the same quality. The Visual Pursuits software along with the ceiling mounted projector, will automatically re-size images that are too large in pixel dimensions and/or a ratio wider than 16 to 9.

Here is the recommended minimum and maximum image sizes and other critical details:

  • Maximum image size: 3,840 pixels on the long side and 2160 pixels on the short side. Images larger may be automatically downsized by the software or the projector. Please note: depending on the aspect ratio of your image you may need to size according to the shorter side to keep both sides within the recommended limits.
  • Minimum image size: 1080 pixels on the long side. Images smaller will be automatically enlarged and may appear grainy or unsharp when projected.
  • Upload file size: Recommended file size is under 10.0 MB. Larger files will increase the upload time. If your image file size exceeds 18.0 MB, you may get an error, and the file will not be uploaded.
  • File type: JPEG format (.jpg).
  • Color Space: It is recommended that sRGB color space be used but is not required, especially if you are not sure what this is. sRGB color space most closely approximates the capabilities of monitors and projectors.
  • Do not include your name in the title. As a logged in member, your name will automatically be linked to your image.
  • No watermarks on images.
